Perhaps due to the choices to cover older works, they're more able
than ever to produce intelligent, thoughtful, and informative criticism — while this article maligns their production value as no better
than «the average Youtube video,» editing a video
review to provide context via clips of the
film is a step beyond what the vast majority of populist or even academic
film criticism has done in the past, let alone
other related
films in the genre and in the director's oeuvre for context.
Men critics in areas
other than film wrote an average of 6
film reviews whereas women with this job title wrote an average of 3
film reviews.
Not only are women outnumbered as
film critics, staff writers,
other types of critics, and freelancers, women also
review fewer
films on average
than men.
I'll leave out any negative
reviews, because I'd rather focus on the mainly positive responses I had to this year's selections (in
other words, I did see more
films than the ones listed below).
The Buzz: The first two «Pirates»
films made buckets of money — despite scathing
reviews, in the case of the second installment — so there's no reason to expect «At World's End» to be anything
other than a tentpole picture for Disney all summer long.
Given the
reviews from both coasts and nearly everywhere in between it just wouldn't make sense if any
film other than «The Social Network» won both of these groups» best picture awards.
But in
reviewing the 945 top - grossing
films since 1950, the researchers behind the report for the American Academy of Pediatrics did identify several PG - 13 titles that had a noticeably higher level of violent acts per hour
than other similarly rated movies.
Reviewing Transformers 3 is a bit of a quandary, on the one - hand it is undoubtedly a better cinematic outing
than Transformers 2, so low expectations are met and slightly heightened, but on the
other hand
films shouldn't really be congratulated for being slightly better
than the eye - gouging you had anticipated.

other film in the Nightmare series, just edging out New Nightmare, Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors stands out as an impressive and worthy addition to the accumulated collection of True Horror Classics.
Other than the one depressing - to - read line that «Madagascar» does anything better
than another
film, this
review was funny and intelligent.
My more detailed thoughts about the
film itself can be found in my original
review of the Dolby Digital DVD, but The Haunting provides an unusual case in that more
than any
other movie I can recall, my enjoyment of the story stemmed largely from the audio.
It also tried a little too hard to be a cult
film, Another WolfCop (read my
review) succeeds at having no goal
other than to entertain.
There was no expectations surrounding the
film, at least no more
than any
other run of the mill animated

I can't say it's better
than a third or fourth back - up choice for a rental, but compared to the
other feeble father
films I've recently
reviewed (Daddy Day Camp, The Game Plan), I'm positive you could do worse
than this.
Despite this and
other positive
reviews, the
film bombed commercially, taking in less
than $ 13 million.
