During the next 40 minutes, the class will recite a poem about an apple, learn a dozen new
words for various moods (glad, joyful, frustrated), sing a short jingle about how we read text («Top to bottom, left to right...»), and come up with
pairs of rhyming words («sad» and «mad,» «train» and «chain,» «bee» and «pea»).
I would encourage my students to try and write a
pair of rhyming sentences inside each
of the speech bubbles and to try and use Dr. Seuss» style
of writing using
rhyming words inside the speech bubbles.
Once students have completed solving the
rhyming word pairs, they use these letters to fill in the secret message at the bottom
of the puzzle.
