Visions of working through 2D platforming stages
with rhythm elements had my imagination working overtime.
The battles have been reformatted so they are similar to other Sting titles, and the game also
integrates rhythm elements as attack power can be increased by pressing buttons in time with on - screen prompts.
I didn't know about
the rhythm element in this game... that's actually pretty unique for an RPG.
Same with me, I haven't tried the first one either, but
the rhythm elements are what caught my eye.
Billed as a shoot»em up with time travel elements (think Retro / Grade, except not in reverse and without
the rhythm elements), Zeit ² allows you to speed up your progression through stages or jump back in time to shoot alongside yourself.
It plays like a Rhythm Tengoku minigame — flicking your eyes between the two screens quickly feels natural, and
the rhythm element adds a cute gameplay kick to what would otherwise be a very simplistic demo.
The visual style of the game is refreshingly unique and I decided to go for a cocktail of traditional Japanese scales and instruments, mixed with modern pop production and
rhythm elements.
