the rice is toasted in oil something magical just happens and the rice becomes way more forgiving of the way it is cooked.
After
the rice is toasted, add the minced garlic and cook for just about 30 seconds while stirring so the garlic doesn't burn.

But how I've
been enjoying it most recently
is in an almond butter dressing, which I've
been drizzling over everything: winter salads,
rice bowls, avocado
toasts.
The next time I make this dish, I
'm going to set the
toasted, ground
rice aside and sprinkle it on the salad at the end.
A while ago my friend Amanda (it
's her amazing and florescent carrot butter on that little whole grain
toast in the background) introduced me to a pre-made quinoa tabbouleh salad at Costco, it had extra bells and whistles, like mung beans and brown
rice, but it
was lacking something so I decided to re-create it at home.
The whole mix
is topped with dry
toasted jasmine
rice mill.
The flavors of the dish
are mainly from the
toasted jasmine
rice ground into a fine powder, blended with very thinly shredded fried potatoes, taro, tofu and jicama.

Then you
're going to add that all to a skillet over medium heat with your
toasted sesame & coconut oil, and also add your vegan ground chicken, salt & pepper, coconut aminos, and
rice vinegar.
Some of the
rice will
be slightly
toasted on the bottom of the paella pan; that
is actually a delicious part of the paella that we call in Spain the «socarrat»
Rice chex
was a huge staple in my diet: I would use it as a crunchy salad topper, mixed with a handful of chocolate chips as a snack,
toasted with oil and chili pepper and lemon.
And you probably can skip the
toasting step if the brown
rice is crispy enough.
This festive Herbed Wild
Rice with cranberries and
toasted pecans
is seasoned with thyme, marjoram and sage.
The meal
was served with
toasted almond
rice pilaf and a light salad of cucumbers, tomatoes, and very very thin julienned carrots in a
rice vinegar - ginger based dressing.
The only thing that makes these slightly time consuming
is toasting the
rice flour and coconut.
Rottis
are a pan-fried soft bread, similar to Indian nan, that
are made with
toasted rice flour.
In the same skillet,
toast the coconut, stirring constantly, just until it begins to turn golden (note:
toasting the coconut second will help unstick any
toasted rice flour that
's stuck in the grooves of your pan if you have a textured pan like me).
there
's nothing better than
toasted seeds and nuts:) my favorite fall comfort foods must
be curry (full of veggies and coconut milk) with
rice OR pumpkin coconut milk soup with a fat pumpkin seed oil drizzle.
Poached atop rye
toast with tomato and avacado... open face sandwich and a simple green salad, or poached egg atop salad or frittata with what ever
is leftover... brown
rice and grilled salmon, and sugar snaps stir fried or grilled with a bit of soy and
rice wine vinegar... if time permits.
Then I looked at the recipe on the back of the
Rice Krispies box and thought that if we
were bothering to melt the butter we might as well keep melting to brown it to create a richer,
toasted flavor, similar to my Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies.
OK, here
are some favorites we've
been cooking up at my place: - vegetable curry (grind my own whole spices, use whatever veggies we get in our weekly CSA share; radishes / beets, eggplant, squash, greens, etc)- quick kale (sauteed with coconut oil, chili flakes, garlic, [lemon grass], soy sauce, lemon juice)- pac choi w / sauteed mushrooms «chinese» style (with fish sauce,
rice wine vinegar, jalepeno / chili, soy sauce, etc)- roasted radishes w / poached eggs - «teamwork pasta» — this
is your recipe for pepper and cheese pasta, but it helps having two sets of hands to make it in our house... we put an egg on this too of course - tuna pasta (chopped onion, garlic, lemon zest, chili flakes, tuna, olives — easily adaptable to what you already have in the house and like)- roast chicken on friday - roasted sweet potatoes - omlets - challa french

These
are the questions that taunt my brain when I wake up in the morning and realize all I want for breakfast
is rice pudding but then force myself to eat «normal» breakfast food like oatmeal or an egg and
toast.
It
's perfect on avocado
toast, popcorn, sauteed greens,
rice, basically just, well, everything.
I love coconut, the
Toasted Coconut
rice is a natural choice for me!
Toasted Coconut would
be first — I've started crisping up my
rice with coconut oil before cooking it and it
is one of my favorite flavors!
With flavors like Thai Red Curry,
Toasted Coconut, Korean BBQ, and Vegetable Fried
Rice, the possibilities
are endless!
Add the
rice and continue to cook for another few minutes so the grains
are covered in oil and beginning to
toast.
Her diet consists of eggs, avocado, and whole wheat
toast in the morning along with soymilk in her coffee; tofu or beans (pinto or black) with vegetables and brown
rice, or whole wheat pasta with roasted veggies for lunch / dinner; and snacks on nuts and fruits or fruit / veggie (from the spinach) smoothies with protein powder when she
's hungry.
This one - bowl meal can
be made with brown
rice or quinoa as well, but it
's the
toasted pumpkin seeds that pull it all together.
Toasted basmati
rice and zesty guacamole
are the finishing touches on this vacation - worthy dish!
It straddles the sweet and savory world because it
's also great for flavoring
rice pilaf with
toasted nuts, lentil soup, lamb meatballs, braised chicken, or vegetable stew.
Brown
rice / steamed broccoli / TJ's savory tofu (with soy sauce and
toasted sunflower seeds)
is also a go - to meal at the moment.
Soy sauce, hoisin, and
toasted sesame oil, along with those crisp and shiny Japanese
rice snacks... there
's nothing but goodness in here.
Toasting the
rice helps bring out its nutty, full - bodied flavor, and this dish can
be prepped in a mere five minutes.
This meatless version of bibimbap includes several different add - ons (crispy
rice, pickled cucumbers,
toasted nori), all of which
are quick and easy to make.
