He told the
young rich ruler to sell all he had and give it to the poor, then he would be saved.
Jesus confirmed them in His answer to the young
rich ruler in Matthew 19, Paul mentioned them in Romans 7, Romans 13 and in other places (read Romans 3:31!)
Perhaps he intended the story of
the rich ruler and the camel to be understood in the light of his teaching as a whole: It is what is in one's heart, rather than the external trappings of one's life, that makes one clean or unclean.

When
the rich ruler dismissed Jesus» invitation to come follow Him, Jesus looked at the man as he walked away and loved him.
