While the front
suspension is independent, making it leaps and
bounds better than a truck sporting a solid front axle (the benefits of either are for the birds, unless you plan on attaching a snow plow to the front, or changing the front
ride height).
While most bumps and thuds disintegrate before even reaching the cabin's padding, rougher surfaces are
bound to fill the cabin with unwanted noise, but I still can't stick the «loudmouth» label on the
suspension, not when trips on A and B roads resemble a magic carpet
ride.
Leaf - spring
suspensions tend to
ride more harshly and can lead to
bounding motions over bumps, but the Ram's coil springs calm those motions and smooth out the
ride.
