Best regarded for the left
hander but there is also a fast
right hand break, Balian is close enough to South Bali (it takes around two hours to reach here from Seminyak by car) that it sees plenty of day trippers from South Bali, but you really need to stay here to get the best of it — both for the early morning uncrowded
waves but also for the relaxed feel of the village — take a wander on foot and soak it up.
The left hand sand bar had the best
waves but with plenty of tide still to fill in the
right hander was also starting to take on some nice shape.
Encuentro starts breaking at 2» and the main peak is mostly a
right hander, although the shorts lefts can be fun as well it can hold
waves of up to 10»
Crowd wise the
right hander had the usual hungry crew but the beach break
waves were empty and our choice.
So as it shows in today's photo gallery we hit the road for Canggu, arriving at 7.45 AM to find
wave height a little bigger in the 2 - 4ft range with the odd slightly bigger freak set hitting the bombie and the
right hander.
With only 1 - 2ft + of
wave height showing between Kuta Reef and Airports we decided to wait for the afternoon high tide and have a fun surf down Legian at Padma st. And to all our surprise there were some really fun left and
right handers to play with.
Arriving at our destination around 10.30 AM to find similar sized
waves and some nice shaped
right handers peeling off.
And there was nice
waves breaking on all 3 of the main breaks, the fresh off shore wind may have been a bit too much for the
right hander to be working but ya never know unless ya go
right.
While the competitors were also scoring some very nice
waves on the
right hander also in the head to well over head class, perfect high performance
waves.
These are mostly located on the north coast of the island where there is also some of the worlds best dive spots and 3 excellent
waves for experienced surfers only and one of which (Lacerations) is considered the best «
right hander» in Indonesian and many, the world.
