If you feel the mini
skirt isn't
right for your body
shape, well that's entirely up to you but don't think it can't be done, it's just a matter
of finding the
right top to balance your
shape.
I think it's one
of those
skirts that require the
right body
shape to pull off.
I repeatedly torture myself by seeking out my perfect sleeved specimen; it has to be just the
right shape, in the
right colour or print, with a
skirt that will actually hit me below the knee, and most importantly (and often not the case) with sleeves that will comfortably fit my large upper arms without making me want to cut them off after a couple hours
of strained movement or painful digging and pinching.
The Penelope dress is great for women with triangle and hourglass
shapes because it has a detailed waistband (don't worry, it's not elastic, so it doesn't pinch) and full
skirt, so it creates the look
of a cinched waist and falls loosely over the hips, with subtle pleating and actually falls
right above the knee, which is the first dress that I've found doesn't fall past my knees.
High - waisted, full or a-line
skirts draw the eye to the smallest part
of your waist, thus drawing the eye away from the, uh, larger part
of your hips, giving you that hourglass
shape... in all the
right ways!
That's a big «may»
right there, though, especially since bust size and
shape, the cut
of the
skirt, shoe choice, and where the
skirt's waistline falls on your bod can all affect how a maxi will impact your figure.
