The simplest thing to do if you still have your surfboard, get caught in a
rip current, and you want to get
out of it, is to point the
nose of your board towards the beach, shift your weight towards the rear
of the board, hold on tight, and wait for a wave to hit you from behind, pushing you in to the beach.
