The access
road leading to these two beaches
runs over San Miguel hill in the
north, which offers an impressive view of the open coast.
The little seaside town that has sprung up around the beach, just south of Tongaat, is fairly modern, and a drive along
North Beach
Road that
runs between the sea and the ridge of residences reveals mostly modern apartment buildings and townhouses that reach upward for the views, some of them On Show to prospective buyers or holiday makers who dream of a home by the sea.
Highway 29 is the county's main
road,
running 30 miles
north to south from Calistoga to Napa, and parallel to the scenic Silverado Trail, which sees less traffic.
To the
north of the town you'll find the village of Crickhowell and to the south east, off the
road to the wonderfully - named village of Llanvihangel Gobion, is another place well worth stopping off at — the hotel and restaurant at Llansantffraed Court owned and
run by Mike Morgan who was one of the founders of the original food festival.
South Kihei
Road runs right along the scenic shoreline, and at its southern termination connects to the main
north - south thoroughfare through Wailea and Makena.
The site is located off the Southern Highway 25 miles
north of Punta Gorda town (mile 75) and is not accessible by public transport, but buses from Belize City
run three times a week and pass by the site
road.
If you're already in Australia, you can fly to Darwin from almost any other Australian city, and its position at the top of the Stuart Highway — which
runs from the
north to the south coast via Alice Springs — makes it a great place to aim for during an epic Aussie
road trip.
