There aren't a lot of seeds in one butternut squash, but I just LOVE homemade
roasted seeds of all kinds, so I couldn't let them go to waste.
I love to
roast the seeds of all winter squash for snacks.
I hate to waste food (and my dad gets mad if I do) so i tried
roasting the seeds of all different squashes and it comes out great!
You can even
roast the seeds of other hearty squashes.
Chocolate is made by
roasting the seed of the Theobroma cacao, which contains both caffeine and theobromine.
Not exact matches
For packed lunches I normally make big batches
of quinoa and brown rice with apple cider vinegar / lime and salt and then do a big thing
of roasted veg — things like sweet potato and squash cubes, so I throw a mix
of that into a tupperwear with some raw veg — things like avocado, grated carrot, tomatoes and then some hummus / lentils / chickpeas /
seeds for protein.
Place both in a baking tray with the fennel
seeds, cumin
seeds, a good glug
of olive oil and lots
of salt and pepper, then
roast in the oven for 30 minutes.
At the moment your
roasted squash, olive (though without the olives) avocado and rocket salad, (for anyone who wants to try it page 145
of Book 1)(which we have had again tonight) is our favourite, my husband has it with slices
of cooked chicken and I also add toasted sunflower and pumpkin
seeds.
I like the
roasted cherry tomatoes with a mix
of spinach and rapini made garlicky and spicy and cooked with fennel
seeds or that pizza spice mix.
As I often try to give my children energy balls too, I use Wowbutter (nut - free, made from
roasted soya but tastes exactly like peanut butter) and sunflower
seeds in place
of peanuts.
There were also eggs
of turkeys, iguanas, and turtles,
roasted, boiled, and in omelettes; reptiles
of various kinds; shrimps, sardines, and crabs; wild amaranth
seeds and tule roots; honey
of bees,
of maize, and
of the maguey, and portions
of maguey stalks and leaves, which were eaten
roasted.
Ever since receiving my copy a few weeks ago, I've been floating on a cloud
of cooking inspiration, and I've already made the French Onion Lentil Pots,
Roasted Chili Basil Lime Tofu Bowls, Mustard -
Roasted Broccoli Paté, Lazy Steel Cut Oatmeal, Fudgy Nut and
Seed Butter Brownies (twice), plus the two recipes in this post, all to insanely good results.
Dinner was a salad the size
of the moon that had pretty much everything in my fridge in it, including baby kale, tomato, carrot, pepper, avocado, pumpkin
seeds,
roasted tofu, zucchini, peppers, ginger carrot dressing, hot sauce, and balsamic vinegar.
Speaking
of pumpkins... How about
roasting and eating the pumpkin
seeds?

of tomatoes, try any juicy, slightly sweet vegetable; add some kidney beans in there; replace the cucumbers with something equally crunchy, like fresh bell peppers; if you like the taste

of roasted pumpkin
seeds 2 ripes apricots diced 1/3 cup raisins or cranberries 1/2 tsp salt
Aside from the white chocolate and French burnt peanuts for garnishing, the ingredients list is basically
roasted peanuts, whole oats, Medjool dates, peanut butter, chia
seeds and semi sweet chocolate chips — all
of which can easily be found at Sprouts Farmers Market.
Serve bowls
of dal topped with
roasted cauliflower, toasted
seeds, cilantro and freshly squeezed lime, as desired.
To add even more benefits to your bowl, garnish with detoxing coriander, omega - rich

This granola is packed full
of flavor and nutrition Mixed with our rolled oats you will find delectable sunflower
seeds, sesame
seeds, dry
roasted peanuts, honey, malted barley, raisins, corn germ oil, peanut butter, dates, filberts, cashews, and vanilla.
Also, I pull most
of the stringy stuff off the squash
seeds (but don't wash them), toss with extra virgin olive oil, salt, and chili powder or paprika or no extra spice and
roast the
seeds in the toaster oven until they get crunchy while the squash cooks.

The Tai - Pan Salmon Salad from Zen Japanese Food in Austin is a delicious, quick and healthy lunch featuring grilled salmon atop a bed
of salad greens,
roasted corn & avocado pico, carrot, peanuts, red bell pepper, cranberries, shaved parmesan cheese, sesame
seeds and sriracha with peanut dressing.
Directions: Using a mortar and pestle, or a small grinder, mix garlic, ginger and half
of the peanut oil to form a thick paste / Add other spices, half
of the water (1/2 C) to this mix, stir together and set aside / In a sauce pan, heat the other tablespoon
of oil to medium hot, add cumin and mustard
seeds and allow them to sizzle momentarily / Add spice paste, turn heat to medium low, and while stirring, allow to cook for 1 to 2 minutes / Add cauliflower and potatoes, sweet or hot pepper if using / Stir together so that vegetables are coated with the spices / Add the other 1/2 C water, place a lid on, and simmer for 10 — 15 minutes, until vegetables are tender / Remove lid and simmer for another 5 minutes / If vegetables are done, remove them from the pan and continue to simmer the sauce until it reduces and thickens slightly — just a minute or two / Add
roasted asparagus to the bowl / Spoon sauce over winter and spring veggies, sprinkle with chives.

For the black sesame paste: 65g
roasted black sesame
seeds + 2 tbsp each
of maple syrup and sesame or vegetable oil
They also produce a lot
of seeds for
roasting.
