Plus I had some
strawberries in the fridge that
were on their last leg and the best way to revitalize some almost flat - lined fruit
is to
roast it or drop it in some booze... or in this case both!
It shouldn't
be news that I love a good margarita — I mean it has
been less than a month since I posted these
roasted strawberry margaritas and it
's been less than a month since I overindulged at a local spot and spent the next day laying on the bathroom floor cursing their existence.
So you
're probably wondering what I did with those slow
roasted strawberries that I posted previously here on Eat the Love.
It
's a slight variation of a
roasted strawberry sherbet recipe that you can find in my book.
Cheesecake Filling 1 cup of slow
roasted balsamic red wine

been using your
roasted strawberries?
It
's been a ridiculously good year for
strawberries this year (well, round here at least) and, amongst many other dishes, I have
been roasting them but so far I haven't made ice cream.
As
strawberries aren't that tart and this
is usually quite a sweet ice - cream, I added a little cider vinegar to the
roasting strawberries and reduced the amount of condensed milk used.
It will take some focused effort, but now
is the time to stir in the
roasted strawberries.
To add an extra touch of decadence, the satiny
strawberries are roasted for additional flavor.
For breakfast, we cooked doughboys, biscuit dough squeezed onto
s» mores sticks and
roasted over a fire, then stuffed with butter and
strawberry jam.
Transfer baking sheets to oven and
roast until the rhubarb and
strawberries are caramelized and tender about 20 - 22 minutes.
My first thought
was to simply add brown sugar atop the
strawberries before
roasting.
Sounds delicious — your fresh
strawberry ice cream from PS would
be a staple in my freezer if it lasted long enough (a friend of my daughter's ate a whole litre of it that I'd sent to his family), I might
roast a double batch try the above and try stirring the
