I ditched the regular milk in favor of a creamy homemade cashew chia milk and
roasted some strawberries for a jammy and full - bodied strawberry flavor.

You will need 3/4 cup (180 ml / grams) of
the roasted strawberries for the ice cream.

for the crust (the final line of the crust instructions has you leave the oven on to
roast them at that temperature).
* obviously this is a pie recipe but the combo of graham cracker crust,
roasted strawberry cream filling ad basil infused whipped cream would be perfect
for individual trifles (with cubed up pound cake instead if graham crackers if you must) or you could really go buck wild and alternate layers of whipped cream and filling with graham crackers
for an icebox situation that would knock several socks off I'm sure.

I thought whipped coconut milk might be the perfect substitute
for whipped cream in my
roasted strawberry parfaits.
These
Roasted Strawberry Parfaits with Coconut Cream and Macadamia Nuts are a good substitute
for my beloved
strawberry shortcake.
For the
strawberries, I thought about
roasting them with a little bit of balsamic vinegar instead of covering them with sugar to get syrupy.
Just eliminate that step in the directions, and bake the cake
for about an hour instead of 40 minutes, as the fresh, unroasted
strawberries will hold more juice than the
roasted ones do.
Of course, when it came down to it, I couldn't
for the life of me remember where I'd seen the piece on
roasting strawberries, so I just had a go.

for strawberries this year (well, round here at least) and, amongst many other dishes, I have been
roasting them but so far I haven't made ice cream.
To add an extra touch of decadence, the satiny
strawberries are
roasted for additional flavor.
So far the team has developed recipes
for standard offerings such as vanilla and
strawberry and specialty favorites such as
roasted banana and mocha swirl — a combination of chocolate and cappuccino.
For breakfast, we cooked doughboys, biscuit dough squeezed onto s» mores sticks and
roasted over a fire, then stuffed with butter and
strawberry jam.

Roast in oven
for 10 - 15 minutes, until
strawberries have released most of their juices and smell fragrant.
For this recipe I
roasted the
strawberries with Alessi white balsamic reduction along with a little honey which really enhanced the flavor of the
strawberries and created a delicious syrup to be incorporated into the ice cream.
So after
roasting the
strawberries with the balsamic reduction and honey I let them cool
for a bit before adding them to my ice cream which allows the syrup to thicken up nicely.
Admittedly, this seems a little high - maintenance
for breakfast — and there is some planning that goes into making both the
roasted strawberries and the chocolate - coconut granola — but it's almost entirely hands - off time, and can be easily (and preferably) done in advance.
I've used
strawberries and orange liqueur before, but next time I make this, I'm gonna top it with my Herb
Roasted Citrus
