This time of year I like
the Roasted Strawberries on the Yogurt Biscuits or Millet Muffins.

I associate seasons with food (winter = pot
roast, spring =
strawberry salad, summer = burgers
on the grill, fall = pumpkin EVERYTHING), and mark special occasions with food (birthday = ice cream, book deal = champagne, Christmas Eve = homemade white lasagna).
The temperature for
roasting the
strawberries is the same as the temperature for the crust (the final line of the crust instructions has you leave the oven
on to
roast them at that temperature).
Place the
roasted strawberries, cut side down,
on top of the cake batter about 1/2 inch apart from one another in concentric circles.
Plus I had some
strawberries in the fridge that were
on their last leg and the best way to revitalize some almost flat - lined fruit is to
roast it or drop it in some booze... or in this case both!
It shouldn't be news that I love a good margarita — I mean it has been less than a month since I posted these
roasted strawberry margaritas and it's been less than a month since I overindulged at a local spot and spent the next day laying
on the bathroom floor cursing their existence.

I'd read somewhere
on the internet that
roasting strawberries really brought out the flavour, which kind of makes sense as soon as you think about it.
Of course, when it came down to it, I couldn't for the life of me remember where I'd seen the piece
on roasting strawberries, so I just had a go.
Assemble: Place patty
on bun, top with baby spinach arugula blend, honey rum bacon, fire
roasted strawberry watermelon corn relish and generously drizzle creamy citrus Dijon...
Yet the
roasting process intensifies the flavour of both fruit and veg and let's face it, some of those
strawberries sitting
on supermarket shelves can do with a bit of flavour enhancing.
The
roasted strawberries are outrageously good
on their own.
Not only have I been eating them
on their own, I've made my White Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Balsamic
Roasted Strawberries, my Strawberry Rhubarb Mint Crisp, and now I've made these milkshakes!
The texture is spot -
on, the flavor is sweet in that light way that quick breads should be, there's this amazing blend of vanilla beans and vanilla sugar and vanilla extract that works wonders, and there's juicy
roasted strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries in every bite because they're amazing.
We'll be celebrating Valentine's Day with dinner at home (I'm thinking steak + mashed potatoes +
roasted veggies + homemade chocolate covered
strawberries) because you won't catch us dead out
on one of the busiest restaurant nights of the year.

strawberries, olives, an avocado, a 4.5 - ounce 40 - plus - ingredient superfood smoothie, walnuts — plus D, B - 12, and zinc supplements, then live
on roasted green tea for the next 23 hours.
