A
rocker shaft is a metal rod that helps a vehicle's engine run smoothly. It connects the engine's camshaft to the rocker arms that control the movement of the engine's valves.
Full definition
The intake and
exhaust rocker shafts contain primary and secondary intake and exhaust rocker arms, respectively.
Once VTEC engagement occurs, the oil pressure flowing from the exhaust
rocker shaft into the primary exhaust rocker arm forces the VTEC switching piston into the secondary exhaust rocker arm, thereby locking both exhaust rocker arms together.
The same occurs for the
intake rocker shaft, except that the high - profile camshaft lobe operates the primary rocker arm.
Three oil passages inside
the rocker shaft receive oil from an external spool valve (controlled by the ECU based mostly on throttle and rpm).
Rather, it refers to the rocker arm which contains the VTEC switching piston and receives oil from
the rocker shaft.
The Dragon range is expected to come with technology like an integrated exhaust manifold,
a rocker shaft with hydrodynamic bearings, a variable oil pump and dual - valve independent valve control.
A rocker shaft with hydrodynamic bearings is also in place.
I took it back to the shop and they actually did a little bit of diagnostics on it and found the cylinder head had broke where
the rocker shaft bolts to it.
