I think Sable played a bigger
role in making that transition in 97/98... and if you were to remove her from the timeline, I think you have to seriously question what would've happened in the 4 years or so between Sable becoming the mega-star she did, and the women's division
of the early 2000's... There's a strong likelihood that those four years would've consisted
of women being nothing but
arm candy valets — aside from Chyna beating up dudes... Hell, there's an outside chance that Trish and Lita never become more than the valet / managers they started out as...
Yes, that questionable stepsister to the Academy Awards became the epicenter
of a movement and the promise
of a future where women are no longer content to be the industry's side show, the
arm candy, the people sporting the barely there dresses to promote their barely there
roles (and paychecks).
But I really shouldn't bury the lede: if you are going to catch The Infiltrator (and here, your Cranston fandom and / or your interest in drug war films not starring Emily Blunt will surely factor in), you should know that you get to see Diane Kruger rock some serious fashion while nailing the tricky
role of a smart and rookie undercover agent playing Bob's
arm candy fiancée, you get to witness Olympia Dukakis chew scenery as Mazur's Aunt Vicki, who's not as clean - cut as her nephew, and you get to watch Amy Ryan... well, sadly not all the women could get choice
roles here, now could they?
