Well... in more of a supporting
role than a fleshed - out character.

Excluding Larson, who is woefully neglected in a
role that reduces her to eying Marky - Mark's character rather
than becoming a
flesh - and - blood character (Larson is far more effective as a texting addict in Joseph Gordon - Levitt's amusing Don Jon), supporting performances feel inspired.
But it's much less successful in
fleshing out the lead characters, or in doing much more
than demonstrating that supporting players have an important
role, too, in the outworking of the plot.
Jackie is a film that often looks and plays like a feature - length expansion of Lana Del Rey's JFK - themed «National Anthem» music video: The scenes of the late president — played, interchangeably, by Brody and Aiden Weinberg — are no less
fleshed out
than those with A$ AP Rocky in the
role.
Larry plays a more enabling
role in his daughter's life — he fills in her college scholarship forms and maintains an amiable relationship with her — because he doesn't identify with Marion's cause (is that because a child is much less of its father's
flesh than its mother's?).
The teen - aged cast
flesh out their
roles even more effectively
than the Stephen King book, but the absolute star of the show is, once again, Pennywise the Clown.
Robert DeNiro and Virginia Madsen as Joy's parents are more broadly drawn as naysayer and eccentric —
role surprising smaller
than the first act promises, but still
fleshed out.
More
than ever the Resistance feels like a
fleshed - out organisation in which there are no small
roles.
Hardy has been big in past
roles — he gained more
than 40 pounds of muscle for his breakthrough
role in Nicolas Winding Refn's Bronson — but here he is almost implausibly immense, a mountain of
flesh with a neck as thick as a normal person's waist.
