My
method was to use a rice paddle (flat on the top of the mixture in my pan) and then pound on it with the end of my French
rolling pin (which is a glorified dowel).
Preheat oven to 350 * F. Crumble gingersnaps either in a food processor (the easier
method) or by placing them in a plastic bag and crushing them with a
rolling pin (giving your arm muscles a workout).
If you don't have either of the aforementioned appliances, you can smash the pretzels to bits using the trusty
rolling pin / plastic bag
method, but your pretzel crumbs won't be nearly as flour - like.
I prefer using my hands versus a
rolling pin to stretch the dough — this seems to create a more pliable finished product — but use whatever
method you like.
