rugelach for my (Jewish) boyfriend's family this weekend to break fast.

This is a different version
for the classical chocolate
rugelach — the dough is chocolatey and is filled with halva spread.
The rolled
rugelach can also be frozen (before glazing)
for up to 3 months.
Repeat the rolling process with the remaining disk of dough and filling, then chill the
rugelachs in the fridge
for 30 minutes before baking.
I made Armenian nazook cookies which are similar but more work and was looking
for a good
rugelach recipe.
Note: The
rugelach can be frozen, well wrapped,
for up to 2 weeks; let return to room temperature before serving.
Then when I'm making challah, cinnamon buns, vanilla
rugelach, or anything else that calls
for yeast, I'm ready to go.
(Once frozen hard, the
rugelach can be transferred to zip - lock bags and kept frozen
for up to 6 months.)
