Filled with clever references and
running gags from throughout the show's run, Stick of Truth is an amazing experience.

Yet it's disappointing that the best moments in The World's End are continuations of
running gags from the two previous films.

from their childhood thinking he's funny and he kept making these painfully bad jokes.
A meandering, whimsically surreal comedy with an indie / Euro sensibility that wants to say something important about Life but never really gets around to it; fortunately, there are some standout individual scenes
from the top - notch cast, including a
running NORTH BY NORTHWEST
gag.
In addition to the sly humor to be found in the background of every Aardman production (labels for Costly Crackers and Stumbler's Whiskey, a wall papered with news stories about the «Veggy Monster»
from «The Curse of the Were - Rabbit»), «Flushed Away» features a hilarious
running gag in the form of a Greek chorus of singing slugs, who harmonize at opportune moments on everything
from «Don't Worry, Be Happy» to «Mr. Lonely.»
But while the sequel benefits
from Reynolds» superhuman charisma as the charmingly annoying, katana - wielding protagonist, the film nevertheless feels too much like more of the same: more of the same gross - out
gags, more of the same irreverent jokes, more bits where Deadpool has to regrow severed limbs to the disgust of everyone around him, more
running commentary on the movie he's in....
For example, there is a funny bit where Kevin James» character, Eric, is a little too attached to his mom (the super adorable Georgia Engel
from The Mary Tyler Moore Show), but they chose to spend more time on a stupid
running gag: Eric has the ability to «burp - snart» (burping, sneezing, and farting at the same time).
Meanwhile, it becomes something of a
running gag that after his decision to temporarily retreat
from the director's chair in the early 1970s to focus on production and distribution, Corman continually promises, in interview after interview, to return to directing in a year's time.
There is a recurring
gag that has Paul Rudd doing his finest Tony Montana impression (it gets old quick), a scene where the cops try to remove a beached whale
from the shoreline, and a couple of
run - ins with oft - appearing supporting performer on the TV show, Nick Swardson (The Benchwarmers), as the flamboyantly gay Terry.

In fact some of the best jokes — including a
running gag about her repeatedly getting particularly frumpy alternate identities — come
from others underestimating Cooper.
The only
running gag that somewhat works is the version of Tom Cruise's character
from War of the Worlds being a bad father, but it's also probably the only joke that is actually based on observation of the source material.
There are only a few moments where the actors take a break
from the shooting and
running to make a quick
gag.
It's a constant
run of
gags and one liners with some fantastic performances
from the main actors.

Gag Reel» basically consists of Grey cracking up (30s); and four screen - tests bugger the imagination in addition to explaining why Swayze and Grey were the dream participants in this danse macabre.
The season's
running gag, modeled after the different milk flavors of Season 3, sees Trish (Brownstein) and Jamie (Armisen) try to get pets adopted
from Portland Pet Haven.
And it's a tough week: Jean reveals he's pregnant with his child; he's saddled carrying the Gorfeins» cat after it escapes out the door, and accidentally locks the door behind him after staying the night (a great
running gag that eventually turns into a lovely metaphor for Llewyn's journey); he's chasing payments

But it features terrific supporting performances as well, especially
from male love interests portrayed by Don Johnson, Richard Dreyfuss, Andy Garcia and Nelson, who is responsible for the film's Big Talker of a sight

runs afoul of a double dose of Viagra.
Aiming for innocuous, then, it makes as much hay as it can
from declensions of «fuck,» surprise fatalities, and nut - shots, including a
running gag about the size of Paul's space - junk.
The two have a lot in common: They're both tough and independent (aside
from leaning on one another), and there's a
running gag throughout the film where the two yell at each other as though they're strangers when they encounter one another on the road.
There's a lot, yet still too little, made of a fake breast that Robert De Niro's character has fashioned
from his daughter's breast so that he can approximate breastfeeding (though the film balks at actually paying off the sight
gag with the sight of him doing it) and a bit of unkindness towards southern policemen (Tim Blake Nelson, deserving better), and a good eighty - percent of the alleged humour of this stillbirth is invested in «Focker» sounding a lot like «Fucker» and people at a Focker family reunion having names like «Dom» which sounds like «Dumb,» «Randy» which sounds like «Randy,» and «Horny» which sounds like someone's already
run out of ideas for how to stretch a one - word punchline into a feature - length film.
Children are shot in the back, mothers are
run down like animals, a heroic geek is tortured mercilessly, and the final reward of at least a couple of the baddies would make Dario Argento blush (indeed, a knife - through - the - chin
gag from Opera is ripped off with gory gusto).
For all the deft sight
gags and comic situations — and there are plenty (including a comic symphony around the shenanigans of salarymen trying to count their bonus money away
from prying eyes)-- there is also an undercurrent of anxiety
running through the film as Shinji struggles to find work in Japan's depressed economy.
But the
gags are predominantly broad and the cynically - minded commentary, which touches on everything
from cultural capitalism and art world smuggery to the current political climate and the fickleness of success, doesn't
run very deep.
Add in the beautifully decorated interiors, a finely judged turn
from Simon Helberg as Jenkins» snivelling vocal coach and a
running gag about potato salad, and this hits enough high notes to warrant an appreciative audience.
Running throughout the pleasant - surprise teen comedy «Easy A» is a rib - tickling little
gag whereby various characters quote memorable lines
from quintessentially 1980s teen movies,
from Hughes» «The Breakfast Club» and «Ferris Bueller's Day Off» to «The Outsiders» to «Say Anything.»
Even after the scene switches to India, we're not allowed to forget Liz's newfound appetite: A
running gag has fellow ashrammer «Richard
from Texas» (the always excellent Richard Jenkins) always calling her «Groceries» because of the way she can wolf it down.
The major
gag in George Herrimann's Krazy Kat comic strip, which
ran from 1913 to 1944, was Ignatz Mouse's repeated attempts to clobber the title character with a brick.
A throwaway joke about Sybil and the severed head of the Lincoln memorial going out on a date becomes a brilliant ongoing sideplot, minor characters
from the first episode of season one become the linchpin of season two's overarching plot in a twist worthy of M. Night Shyamalan (good M. Night Shyamalan, not recent M. Night Shyamalan), and a weird
running gag about mariachis singing at people's birthday parties spirals into probably the most inventive time - travel plot any videogame's ever attempted.
