If you're experienced with an entry - level

Since I started shaving with a
safety razor I've tried a lot of different blades to determine
which one is the best for me as well as try to help others find the blade that works best others.
In this article I will be talking about the twin brother of one of my favorite
safety razors of all time (the DE89lbl
which made the definitive best

Safety razor blades are made of a much higher quality steel than those found in disposable or cartridge
razors,
which not only makes them much sharper, but also means that the blades should last longer before going dull.
We often get questions from customers about the aggressiveness of double edge
safety razors and
which ones are best suited for their particular hair / beard type.
The balance point is a little farther down compared to most
safety razors but it still balances at the top of the grip,
which I like very much.
Unlike specialist
safety razor companies like Merkur,
which produce a wide range of
razors, the Edwin Jagger line of
razors is relatively small, but that doesn't mean it's not excellent.
This is definitely my favorite type of grip because no matter
which way you hold your hand or fingers, there should be no way for this
safety razor to slip out.
This
safety razor reminds me very closely of the Merkur 33c (
which made the list of the best
safety razors) because the headpiece is almost identical, even the style and shape of the handle.

Of course, this doesn't hold true for all double edge
razor blades as some brands are obviously much better than others,
which is why we'd recommend investing in the best
safety razor blades you can get.
In my experience lighter
razors require you to pull the
safety razor and do more work yourself
which results in more contact between your skin and the blade.
The first review that I did was the Muhle R89 (
which made the best
safety razor list).
We won't go into great detail about the differences in various types of
razors (you can read about that in our article on
safety vs straight
razors), but basically all you need to know is that those multiple blade
razors tend to remove too much skin and natural oils with each stroke,
which leads to increased pain and irritation.
Of course, if you still use a cheap cartridge or disposable
razor, this could also be part of the issue,
which is why we recommend all men switch over to a
safety razor (or a straight
razor if you're willing to go all out).
While cartridge
razors tend to use cheap, inferior quality steel, many double edge
safety razor blades use medical grade stainless or carbon steel,
which can be sharpened to a much finer, thinner edge without degrading.

People with small hands will not think the handle is too long,
which can be the case with a 4 inch
safety razor.
Nonetheless, before we get into
