The combination of beets and hazelnuts was so delicious that I decided to create a quinoa
salad using some of the same flavors.
Not exact matches
Used the
same dressing to make a similar
salad tonight with chinese leaf cabbage instead
of kale.
In this recipe I tossed it with a myriad
of grilled broccoli, squash and radishes (
same as I
used in my miso grilled veg), to make a farro and grilled vegetable
salad of sorts.
My family makes something very similar,
using the
same ingredients, but it's a taco casserole instead
of taco
salad.
We eat a lot
of salads as you can imagine, and its a great change
of pace even though it
uses mostly the
same ingredients.
I'm also
using an oil - based
salad dressing instead
of the more typical Vietnamese dipping sauce (nuoc cham), but I'm sticking with the

I like to garnish this
salad with marinated mushrooms from another recipe in the
same cookbook: 1/2 pound
of Shiitake and Crimini mushrooms (or any wild mushrooms)-- sliced 3 tablespoons olive oil 3 tablespoons lemon juice some fresh herbs (I
used basil and cilantro) some sea salt garnish with freshly ground black pepper
It cooks in the
same amount
of time, and fluffs up nicely for
use in
salads or as a base for a vegetable pilaf.
This
salad combines many
of the
same ingredients (including the spices)
used in a dahl but entirely raw and sprouted.
The two recipes are very close to being the
same, but the
salad uses bigger pieces
of vegetables, a touch
of feta or fresh mozzarella cheese, and the best heirloom tomatoes you can find.
If serving a fresh potato
salad isn't in the cards for your crew, consider
using the
same ingredients to create a plate that works for everyone, without a lot
of extra effort on your part.
Something along the lines
of a protein shake with some essential fatty acids (EFAs), such as whey protein isolate (if you
use protein powder) mixed with Carlson's omega - 3 oil, or a chicken
salad with veggies will keep the fat burning machine churning, while at the
same time provide protein and essential fats to start rebuilding muscle.
Sometimes I
use hummus instead
of salad dressing (try it — your life will never be the
same), but generally,
salad dressing is balsamic vinaigrette.
The
same theory goes with this sandwich recipe as well where boiled eggs
used to make a tasty
salad and fill the inside texture
of a simple sandwich to give it an exclusive taste -
The mulberries
used in this
salad came from my grandmother's farm and I had only a handful
of them left after my daughter feasted on them the
same morning.

I make this exact
same salad but I just
use a can
of mixed veggies and some diced pickled jalapenos and it comes out fantastic!!!
