Today I can confirm that books borrowed through this program do effect

I checked out
the sales rank just now for The Camelot Kids books and they are all well in the 600,000 mark — which is significantly less than one book sale per day (and that includes the permafree in the series) and can't possibly equal any kind of income at all.

Just glowing remarks, a lot of praise without explanation, a lot of reviews for a newly published book with a high
sales rank... these kinds of things are like putting a neon sign on your product page: What's funny about this picture?
Just imagine how much those
sales ranks would slide without Kindle Unlimited there to give it those beneficial downloads.
Mark Coker: I know a lot of Smashwords authors are deliberately not doing a pre-order at Amazon
just for that reason, for fear that during that time that their book is available as pre-order they're actually cannibalizing their first day
sales rank.
Would love more information on how all that stuff goes together — and, frankly, what an Amazon
rank even means (and my understanding is that an Amazon
rank represents more than
just sales, or used to, at least).
One other note on March's decrease from February's
sales:

sales dipped to their lowest point of the year last April, the first month that 5 of the «Big 6» publishers raised e-book prices under «agency model» pricing, March 1 marked the date when Random House joined
ranks and embraced the agency model as well.
Certainly, marketing efforts are best measured by the
sales brought in, but seeing that
rank just makes us push that much harder.
