Once the pasta is just about done, plunge the asparagus into the simmering water for a minute, just until bright green, then drain both in
the same colander
I didn't add them back to the boiling water, I just drained the pasta and peas right over them in
the same colander.
Drain the mushroom / bell pepper mixture into
the same colander as the sausage.
Set aside defrosted corn and use
same colander to rinse and drain pinto beans.

I am Swiss and I live in Canada, so making Spaetzle is something I do from scratch, but I really don't like the
colander method and the spaetzle maker you pointed out would have the
same heat / steam issue.
When noodles are ready, pour over vegetables in
colander and drain water, while rinsing with cold water at the
same time.
I sprout it just like I sprout wheat... I had the
same problem of finding any info for a long time, until I finally found a website that called for you to do the initial soak over night, then set it in a
colander over a dish until the corn starts to sprout... I just left it in the jar I had soaked it in and it seemed to work fine.
