The new and updated Kindle, with a thinner body and better screen (probably
the same eInk Pearl display seen on the new Kindle DX Graphite), was announced as an August release a while back.
Sony, Bookeen and the Kindle all have
the same eink technology so the screen capabilities are exactly the same (although Sony employs a 8 greyscale and the other two only 4).

I mean if the
eInk screen lasts soo long that you do nt have to charge it for 8 weeks, then why does nt the Kindle Fire have the
same screen or any other tablet pc for that matter.
You have to think that at some point Sony will stop repeating the
same mistakes and figure out that it has to let the
eInk screen shine figuratively not literally.
At the end of the year it wouldn't be a surprise to see a $ 125 Kindle 3 with pretty much the
same features as Kindle 2 plus the new
eInk Pearl screen and a $ 250 to $ 299 super Kindle that adds on a lot — including, perhaps, the ability to do more than just read.
