global device sales and shows that 2015 saw strong double digit growth in
shipments compared to 2014, the first quarter of the year fell by more than 15 % to 4.8 million units compared to the
same period in 2015 with the largest declines taking place in Latin America.
Apple led the
global tablet market with 28.8 per cent share in the first quarter of 2018 as tablet
shipments reached 31.7 million — declining 11.7 per cent from the
same quarter last year, the International Data Corporation (IDC) reported on Friday.
At the
same time
global phablet
shipments, which are devices boasting screen sizes ranging from 5.5 to under 7 inches, are expected to beat tablet
shipments this year, with 318 million units shipped compared to 233 million tablets.
According to IDC,
global smartphone
shipments actually declined by 6.3 % in Q4 2017 compared to the
same period the year before.
