of prayer (though as president he did «recommend» them) and while president vetoed congressional efforts to incorporate churches in the District

same time, Madison frequently opined that it was appropriate for private citizens to support chaplains and various
kinds of semiorganized public religion through voluntary contributions (V: 104,105)
Both
kinds of church goers — those who fulfill their weekly duty by attending the Sunday morning service, and those who gorge themselves on a weekly smorgasbord
of services, Bible studies, and
prayer meetings — have the
same problem.
The
same kind of coordinated action could unite evangelicals with other Christians and concerned persons
of goodwill to address the key social needs
of the late 20th century — if not to solve them, at least to hold them before God responsibly in
prayer to seek whatever measure
of progress may be consistent with the church's task before the return
of Christ.
Also one night I said «The holy spirit is stupid» and then «it is» and I didn't know if it was an ocd thought or not but I said it during a
prayer and I didn't feel sorry I told God that but I didn't feel worried that I didn't feel sorry but now, I'm
kind of worried I have done blasphemy against the holy spirit but at the
same time I don't and it feel like I'm not scared that I have but at the
same time I'm crying when I'm writing this because I'm worried.
Because if God can respond to a
prayer about high school football team and at the
same time go silent to
prayers for the healing
of a little girl, what
kind of God is He?
Or, at least, in my experience, the «in - between'times between that
kind of coverage, is just more
of the
same generic / rhotic type
prayer, that seldom seems to be attached to the reality.
Should Christian Scientists pay the
same insurance premiums even though they believe that
prayer is the only
kind of health care they need?
I don't need that
kind of «
prayer» thanks all the
same.
At the
same time I have tried to look at
prayer in a new way, by getting at its roots, by relating it to the
kind of world we know nowadays to be ours, and by speaking about it in the light
of present - day understanding
of our selfhood.
