He's not like his sister was as a baby who would take two 2
hour naps a day at the
same time every day.
but now she wont take good
naps through out the day, she goes to bed at the
same time and
same dream feed but then she will get up at 2:30 am and then every
hour after that until about 6:30 when we are up for the day, what do I do and why is she getting up so much?
Most likely, you will find that your infant
naps for a few
hours in the mid-morning, a few more
hours in the afternoon and then for a shorter period of time in the early evening; just keep in mind that not all babies follow the exact
same schedule.
Often I am confined to my bed nursing both at the
same time for
hours just so they can get a
nap in!
We used the
same method on her
naps, and she is now taking 2 regular
naps during the day, each about an
hour, and goes down without crying.
As far as
naps during the day somedays they will sleep at the
same times but usually they are about an
hour off.
So after half an
hour of trying to put her back down, you finally give in, hoping she'll be that much more tired when her afternoon
nap rolls around, only to have the exact
same scenario play out again, and baby is a cranky ball of unhappiness for the rest of the day.
But as soon as your new baby is born, bam, your schedule gets crazy, they probably won't
nap at the
same time (at least for a few months), and your baby might not go to bed until an
hour or two after your older kid.
Some days he sleeps for 3.5 +
hours, other days he
naps for 1.5
hours, all with putting him to sleep at the
same time.
Once she wakes up from
nap 1, let her stay up for two
hours until
nap 2; do the
same for
naps 3 and 4.
Same issues as above, but my son is almost 3, and he goes to bed about 8 pm and wakes at 5 am with a 2
hour nap miid day.
If you are sure you are keeping a consistent daily routine and bedtime routine for your son, with the
same calming nightly routine (warm bath, singing, books, etc.) and bedtime
hour, as well as a consistent
nap schedule (even if he takes 5), and he is getting a total of 12 - 15
hours of actual undisturbed sleep, and you are still concerned with his irritability throughout the day and his need for swaddling, I would definitely seek a second medical opinion to rule out that anything medical or perhaps dietary is causing his fussiness.
Repeat the
same procedure throughout the day: poddy outside first thing in the morning, one
hour playtime, poddy, meal in crate, poddy, playtime, poddy,
nap, poddy, playtime, meal, etc..
