The volume buttons align with the top and bottom of the power button even though they aren't on
the same side of the phone.
Having all buttons on
the same side of the phone is generally a better design, as it gives the phone a place to rest when watching videos without pressing buttons on accident.
These buttons are too far up for comfort, and are annoying to adjust while talking on the phone, but at least they're both on
the same side of the phone.
Not exact matches
A few other reviewers have said the
same, so I'm betting LG will return to
side buttons with the next iteration
of its flagship Android
phone.

Sure, it's essentially a Galaxy Note 4 variant at heart, with the
same powerful internals and core functionality, but the difference is right there in the name: This 5.6 - inch phablet screen doesn't stop when it hits the usual right border, instead pouring over to form a curved edge on the

phone rather than changing the volume.

Alcatel has given the
phone chamfered edges all the way around the frame on both the back and front
of the device, and even the buttons have the
same matching chamfered edges, save for the shortcut button on the right
