last season is because Musgrave was running plays to set up other plays later in the game, like running a play 3 - 4
times early, then showing the
same look later while changing it enough to surprise the defense.

last season but he's never really been healthy for an extended period

same Club that despite you failing to achieve a Top 4 finish to give us our Champions League fare for this

time, and Wenger wouldve just been making the

Mertz should never have been our captain in the first place... who has ever heard of a team that makes 11th hour transfer buys (Arteta & Mertz) then seemingly places those
same individuals into prominent leadership positions from the get - go... indicative of the problems that have permeated our clubhouse for the better part of 7 years under the Kroenke & Wenger... what is wrong with the players chosen and / or the management style of Wenger that doesn't develop and / or encourage strong leadership from within... Mertz was the fine collecting lackey from year one... this is what happens when you don't get world - class players because many
times they want to have a voice on and off the pitch and this can't happen when you play for a fragile manager who has developed a coddling wage structure where everyone is rewarded for simply wearing the shirt and participating in the process... not enough balance between performance and pay, combined with the obvious favoritism shown to some players regardless of their glaring lack of production... remember that Ramsey has played in positions that make no sense considering his skill - set (out wide) and has forced other players off the field or into equally unfamiliar positions with little or no justification (let's remember when you read articles about how Ramsey's goals this upcoming
season being the potential X-factor for our success that this is the
same individual who didn't score a goal until the final week
last season)... this of course is just one example of many... before I hear another word from Mertz I want this club to address the fact that no former player of any real consequence has any important role in the management structure of this club, yet several former Gunners have expressed serious interest in just such an endeavor (Henry, Viera, Adams, Bergkamp... just to name a few legends)... there is only one answer: an extremely insecure manager!!!

Well Mr Expert, actually
last season Sanchez, around the
same time, in 5 full PL and 2 full UCL matches had 1 goal, 3 assists.
We have only seen his best in the
last few
seasons, he was virtually none - existence before then, we look @ Ramsey who was absolutely terrible prio to
last season, it took him almost three yrs to make any meaningful impact and yet Wenger stood by him, and he came good, look @ Wilsere, he has never been the
same after beiing out for more than a year, look @ Eduado da silva, I culd go on and on, truth is, when you are out for that long, it takes
time for you to return to you usual level, it doesn't help his cause that he is not even being used by wenger, how is he suppose to get the match sharpness that he needs?
of course the games against stoke, leicester etc would have gone a long way to seeing us challenge for the title
last season but for a long
time now we've been labelled flat track bullies i.e we are generally very good at beating opponents outside the top six but our record against man utd and chelsea maybe even city quite recently has not reflected a team on the
same level as those going for the premier league title.
This injury curse scares me, no matter how much depth we have, this injuries just seem to attack one area of specialty at a
time, for instance, some
time last season we had a period where almost all of our midfielders were injured (santi, coq, arteta, wilshere, ramsey, rosicky) all at the
same time.

Same could be said for Giroud, look how he got dropped to super sub role

time.
All the apologist's in the world can argue for the in depth reasons as to why the team did nt win the league this
season or
last season or whatever but unless the short falls are addressed the

I thought people here were debating about two or three
seasons back why he should be our top striker. When I thought the Monaco match was the icing on the cake to show how average he was it seems just like Wenger we» will never learn our lesson. Now people our okay with him being a super sub which is debatable.Giroud was a super sub in games
last season because he wasn't played when he was supposed to.He's not your ideal super sub because he very hardly creates but rather requires people to create for him. Most of the
time super subs are the one's who tend to create the chances and open up spaces in the opposition defence.West ham are ready to pay and hence we should demand more from them.We can then use the money from his sale on far better players.Given the
same seasons,
time and chances a lot of average strikers can do better than what he did. This is because Arsenal create a lot of chances and it just needs someone who can finish.Goodbye!.
We have had this
same scenario a few
times over the
last few
seasons.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the
same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better
last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed
last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off -
season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of
last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong
times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many
times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the
season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at
times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
But there is no doubt that the central midfielder has not been quite at the
same level that he was playing at
last season, when he silenced the doubters among the Arsenal fans and the football media alike with fantastic performance after fantastic performance, with the added bonus of 16 goals, some of them absolutely crucial like the extra
time winner in the FA cup final.
Too late for the outs mate, le St * p * d had all the
time from the
last whistle
last season on the FA cup to shift out unwanted players and bring in «top top top players», but 4 days before the window closes here we are with
same mediocre players and the old poneapple still struggling to put a decent first 11 and everyone in their respective positions.
We were favourites for a
time to sign N'Golo Kante from Leicester
last term, and he has probably been the signing of the
season, but we chose to move for Granit Xhaka instead, who cost almost the
same price.
Trust me I don't know if you were here
last season but the
same things you have said a lot said
last year around this
time and then the
season happens and reality hits.
(Felt the
same way at similar
time last season)
It is
time to buy a proven striker,
same as
last season and it did not happen then.
yeah me too, but only for the national team, club-wise i have to say
last season he was reaaaaaally bad as a starting striker in the
time when giroud was injured, but now he seems improved but lets wait before we overestimate him, but yeah rooney hasn't been great for about 5 years already, but i really like sturridge in the club if it werent for his injuries he and kane would be the contenders for the golden boot every
season... well as long as agüero has injury problems himself the
same like sturridge on a higher level..
If he wasn't motivated anymore, I believe retiring after winning the FA Cup
last season would have been the best
time possible for him to have made an exit, as all Arsenal fans were happy with him at the
time, but yet he signed a new three year contract with the
same wages.
The
same Ian Wrong, didn't show any respects to Wenger when he wasn't getting much game
time in his
last season at the club and when he moved to West Ham he didn't stop having digs at Wenger and also don't forget that mr Ian Wrong adviced his son / Steptoe and son..
Last season we started the
season by beating Man City in the Community Shield, and it meant we were far more confident when facing them in the League, and if this has the
same effect on Chelsea this
time around, then Wenger won't be the only one believing that we can beat Mourinho to the League title as well....
They not only closed the gap
last season but we gave them a huge injection of confidence whilst losing our own at
same time.
At the
same time as most Arsenal fans are now thoroughly fed up and most agree that the club were wrong to hand Arsene Wenger a new contract at the end of
last season, with the fans who actually think the Frenchman is still the best man for the job dwindling by the day, I do not think that our long serving manager should take all the blame for the sorry state that Arsenal find ourselves in.
I do nt know why im so disappointed i keep thinking every window he will do it splash big bring back the old days and especially this window with all the abuse he had got
last season but no did nothing im the fool for getting my hopes up again you would think id learn by now, if we did pull off lemar and kept sanchez after buying lacazette and kolasanic id be delighted but keeping an unhappy sanchez isnt good hopefully some forgien club will come in for him in January but what happened at Liverpool was a disgrace i cant take any more its ruining my mood im depressed in disbelief at how stupid and soft centred we were making the exact
same mistakes for 8 or 9 yrs ground hog day i cant cope we have leaked 8 goals in 3 games very worrying and the clown wont even play kolasanic i wanted wenger to spend big go out in a blaze of glory in 2 yrs
time but this is embarrassing to me it looks like a money racket and we are the fools
If we go at them with the
same approach as
last season then we'll be punished just like
last season where it happened 4
times...
I actually think that
last season's defeat to United will stand us in good stead because the players will not have the
same sort of complacency that I think caused us to fail
last time.
Wenger should learn to be proactive He is still a very good coach If u observe only Chelsea and Arsenal use deep lying playmakers in d EPL fabregas and carzola: maurinho started it on
time but Wenger had to wait till wacky got injured before he deployed Caz there:
Same mistake he made
last season: Ramsey was a box to box and not playmaker: When he got injured, we suffered I thought W would immediately drop Caz to that position but he choose wacky instead And Caz was left on d wings We started loosing and drawing matches from there.
On that
same token, the Gators started the
same five offensive linemen (Cam Dillard, Mason Halter, Antonio Riles, David Sharpe, Trip Thurman) at the
same five positions in their first six games of
last season, marking the first
time since 2008 they achieved such continuity.
Unless there's something of a group effort from the under - 30 set like Mike Zunino, Dustin Ackley, Brad Miller and Austin Jackson to emerge from their potential chrysalis at the
same time, it looks like the
same Mariners team as
last season to me.
