There's nothing to suggest that this is anything other than
the same video transfer found on the Collector's Edition, but that's entirely acceptable as it takes its place among Disney's finest on DVD.
If this is a brand new transfer we'd be very surprised - modern telecine is capable of far, far better than this, and despite the fact that it's 16:9 enhanced on DVD, it seems unlikely that this is
the same video transfer that region 1 customers get.
Not exact matches
There's a good deal of grain and a softness that seems to be a result of a lousy negative image as opposed to a
transfer issue — but the impact on the quality of the
video is nonetheless the
same.
THE DVD MGM releases Out of Time in a spacious, overly bright and grainy 2.40:1 anamorphic
video transfer prone to moiré problems and colour bleed, but if it's a little rough around the edges (indeed, DP Theo van de Sande's work on Cruel Intentions displayed the
same kind of affected autumnal defect), I'm willing to think that it's in the cause of the picture's atmosphere.
T'Challa's superpowers, tight - fitting Panther outfit, and Shangri - La - style homeland (
transferring the fabled El Dorado from the Western Hemisphere to Africa) distort actual history and anthropology the
same way that TV, comic books,
video games, and movies have supplanted traditional education and learning.
The 1.85:1
transfer that it offered then was pretty good and is the
same one included in Alliance Canada's Elf: Ultimate Collector's Edition tin (available in the U.S. from Warner Home
Video).
The former
transferred from the
same master used in previous releases, the
video quality is wildly varied (the archival footage has not undergone much scrubbing) but generally good.
A student learning to create digital stories with
video in their broadcast class should be able to
transfer those
same skills to their English class when asked to write a personal narrative.
On the connectivity front, it is much of the
same with new additions including Bluetooth 4.0 up from Bluetooth 3.0 and Samsung's take on NFC, S Beam which means you can «bump» phones with another S - Beam packing handset to
transfer files like music and
videos.
