i driven the i8 and a 991C4s at the
same streets in the
same week in july 2015 here in germany, the i8 engine was surprisingly ok but the cornering speeds were laughabel, the car understeered a lot, it had the
wider tyres but the breaking was also weak (because of the
tyres) the automatic (no doubleclutch, cheap aisin) was slow, the car was much more expencive than the carrera -LRB-!)
Its hard - working 301bhp 3.5 - litre V6 regularly had the speedo needle pointing at 135mph by the end of the GT circuit's long straight — the
same speed Tomalin's Impreza STI achieved there a few of months ago — and its
wide tyres provided no shortage of cornering grip once the tarmac had dried out.
Dynamic enhancements include: new charge air intercooler, metal support bearings complete with ball joints in the front suspension; lightweight door panels,
wider front track, turbo boost increased to 1.6 bar from 1.4 bar,
wider front track with
wider tyres (
same dimensions as GT3 RS).
At the
same time, the tiny hot hatch is also famous for its on - the - rail handling and driving dynamics, thanks to its well balanced chassis, stiff suspension and
wide section
tyres.
