They said the itching was probably caused by the dogs going into the ocean and not getting the salt /
sand out of their coats or that people were not rinsing their dogs completely after a bath.

I
sanded to smooth
out the brushstrokes and then added two
coats of Graphite Chalk Paint ®.

I then
sanded it down again using a fine grit sandpaper to smooth it
out, applied another
coat of primer, and then painted the inside Jazzleberry Jam and the outside Jo Jo Whitewash.
it's just to buff
out any debris that is in the stain
coat before you start applying the next stain
coat... and obviously you will NOT
sand / steel wool on your final
coat of stain.
