Sea Turtle is a federally protected animal and they can
not be handled or harassed in any way.
The reef is
not in greatest shape anywhere on Gili but there are lots of fish and we
saw sea turtles almost every day.

see rare and endangered

For many of those living in Belize,
seeing sea turtles is
not uncommon.

see the bustling beach town of Tamarindo and the nearby wildlife reserve of Marino Las Baulas National Park, which is known for its
nesting sea turtles that come ashore from September to April.

Though the soft corals and fish diversity are
not quite as good as some of the other Andaman
Sea destinations in Thailand, you will find fish species here that you won't
see in the Similan Islands, such as Napoleon wrasse, yellow - masked angelfish, bumphead parrotfish, tomato anemonefish and barramundi, as well as lots of
turtles.
We were also lucky this morning to
see some baby
sea turtles hatching out of their
nest and make their way down to their new home in Bali's ocean.
The bay is also known for its abundance of
turtles, although I wasn't lucky enough to
see one this time (read about my close encounters with
sea snakes and
turtles in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia), no matter how desperate I was to catch a glimpse of one.
Green and Leatherback
Sea Turtles also
nest here, and occasionally we
see a Hawksbill or a Kemp's Ridley.
Over the course of today you'll go to three different snorkelling sites on the Great Barrier Reef, where you'll
see sights such as clownfish,
sea turtles, humphead Maori wrasse (an enormous, large - lipped fish that's very friendly), soft and hard corals in colours such as turquoise, neon pink, soft purple and bright orange, schools of parrot fish, reef crabs, barracudas, painted lobsters, Gorgonian fans, giant clams and maybe even a reef shark or two - don't worry, they're harmless.
Although we didn't
see one, we hear that
sea turtles can swim close to the shore.
A
nesting ground for
sea turtles, you can expect to
see some from May to November.
From June through October, Tortuguero is home to thousands of
nesting green
sea turtles, so this is the place to
see Costa Rica
sea turtles.
Watch juvenile spotted drums skating figures - of - eight close to the surface and let's
not forget our treasured
sea turtles, unafraid to come up close to
see their reflections in our masks.
Las Baulas National Marine Park: You can
see Leatherback, Pacific Green, and Hawksbill
sea turtles come ashore to
nest on guided tours with the park service.
