Wall Street's rally began after government data showed improving retail sales and the Fed said
it saw signs of a stronger economy and expected the unemployment rate to keep falling.

signs of life and the Bernanke backlash surprising many observers, even some who
see a
strong case for additional QE have been trimming their expectations for the size
of the Fed's purchases.
None
of those efforts passed, however, with
signs of strong local support for wind farms and other clean energy projects that were
seen as good for the
economy — from Republicans as well as Democrats.
