There's a lot to be
said about
Lady Bird, a wonderful film about a young girl's final year of high school in Sacramento.
Lady Bird Johnson's Lemon Cake is truly American, luxuriously Texan, with its eight egg yolks and all that butter - and it was
said to be President Lyndon Johnson's favorite dessert.
Although this may not make it on my list for best films of 2017, I can truthfully
say that
Lady Bird is one of the more technically impressive films, even if not for effects.
Gerwig herself has been open about the many films that inspired «
Lady Bird» — she even programmed an entire series at NYC's Quad Cinema featuring a dozen films that she
says helped fuel her creativity — and it while the list is peppered with some surprises, there's at least one coming - of - age classic that seems obvious: Howard Deutch's «Pretty in Pink.»
True, Gerwig has gone out of her way to
say that «
Lady Bird» is not factually autobiographical, but she admits that to some extent it's emotionally autobiographical.

On the evening in October 2016 when the movie crew shot the innocent frolic between
Lady Bird and Danny in the McKinley Park rose garden, the one where the lovebirds waltz through the rose bushes and name a star in the sky to commemorate their new romance, Gerwig's friends and family gathered to watch, including her brother and sister - in - law, who live in Land Park, Mickiewicz's sister and nieces, and Trafton, who
said of the experience, «We were in the present, seeing a story inspired by the past, and witnessing something incredible about Greta's future.
«To have been a part of a film like

Lady Bird, and Craig Gillespie's I, Tonya.
