This year, Akashi's work will also appear in a group show at her alma mater Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and her rise speaks to the explosion of L.A.'s artist scene.
Since emerging from the Glasgow art scene in the early 1990s, Simon Starling (British, b. 1967) has established himself as one of the leading artists of his generation, working in a wide variety of media (film, installation, photography) to interrogate the histories of art and design, scientific discoveries, and global economic and ecological issues, among other subjects.
Previous exhibitions have included: numerous workshops, performances, talks and tours for children; paintings by Colin Martin alongside a projection installation by Clare Langan; works by Johanna Connor and Gabrielle Byrne, two West Cork - based artists; a collaborative showing of mixed media works by Cork - based artists Sandra Minchin and Chris Hurley; an exhibition of paintings exploring cityscapes and urban scenes; an exhibition of drawings and works on paper by Dutch artist Arno Kramer; a series of video works exploring an interest in the precarious balances that exist between the human body and mind; a selected show by invited curator Sarah Foster, linked to the West Cork Craft and Design Guild's 10th Birthday Celebrations; and much more.
JESSICA HESS A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Jessica Hess now lives and works in San Francisco, California where she enjoys documenting the street art scene by painting hyperreal graffiti - laden landscapes.

During his stay in New York, Johns had a relationship with Robert Rauschenberg - with whom he also worked, designing window displays for department stores - and became part of the city's contemporary art scene.
Mury's work, whilst narrow and hugely free, opens up a dialogue around the history of art — Taking control over the entire creative process: from costume and set design up to the camera angle, he obtains a unique place in the contemporary scene among artists who use their own image as the strongest element of creation.
