HHPR is currently accepting applications from high school students for volunteer work in the Second Chance thrift store this summer to satisfy their high
school community service hours.
Students, I encourage you to participate in enrichment programs and extra-curricular activities such as
after school community service, job shadowing and internships, school sports, poetry and essay writing with 826 Boston, and much more.
School community service hours are available for students by either donating items from the society's wish list or volunteering in the Crandall (cat) Room.
In their study on the link between civic engagement and
high school community service (2007), Hart et al. write, ``... community service shapes identity... These philosophies provide rationales for service that -LCB- students in service learning -RCB- can incorporate into their self - concepts as they come to see themselves as persons capable of contributing to the common good.»
We can also help with court ordered community services as well as
school community services.
