only 47 percent graduated with a local or Regents diploma (lower than the citywide average by 15 percent) and 22 percent of them dropped out or were
discharged (more than twice the citywide average).

Personal bankruptcy is
only an option if it has been more than seven years since you left
school (or five years if you can convince a court that you will suffer financial hardship if your student loans are not
discharged).
However, because my student loans were
only 4 years old at the time of my bankruptcy (I left
school in 2006), my student loans were not
discharged.
Closed -
school discharge: If you were attending a Corinthian
school when it closed April 27, or withdrew on or after June 20, 2014, you could get a closed -
school loan
discharge, but
only if you did not complete your program at Corinthian or by transferring at least one credit from Corinthian to a similar program at another
school and completing that program.
