nontraditional way to enter the teaching profession is by teaching
in a charter
school, which does not require full licensure
in many states but may require candidates to go through other hiring and selection processes.71 Teachers of color are better represented
in charter
schools: 30 percent of all charter
school teachers are teachers of color, compared with 18 percent of traditional public
school teachers.72
