I have described how financial realities have reduced our academic law libraries from comprehensive library environments to a rump body
of librarians (or a single librarian) in a law
school doing library reference
duties and obsessing about teaching
legal research.
That challenge is whether the cost
of legal education at existing Canadian law
schools is at odds with the access to justice or public interest mandate
of law societies, and whether law societies or governments have a
duty to regulate it.
While assessing and providing treatment is not the responsibility
of school staff, all
school staff need to be aware
of their
legal obligations and
duty of care to act if they have concerns about a child in their care.
