The project originates from the work of biologist Christian Sardet, who, in his Plankton Chronicle, disclosed to the public the research made by a group of scientists who sailed the oceans from 2009 to 2013 on board
the schooner Tara.
After welcoming in the past the artists Pierre Huyghe, Sebastião Salgado, and Xavier Veilhan,
the schooner Tara (ex-Seamaster with Sir Peter Blake) continued her mission of raising public awareness by inviting 2 artists aboard — Alex Dolan and Ho Rui An — selected by Simon Castets and Hans Ulrich Obrist for 89plus.
Eric Karsenti presented data from 27,000 samples collected by the research
schooner Tara.
