The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), President John Mahama has said his government would not backtrack on its decision to
scrap teacher trainee allowances saying he would rather lose the elections than restore the allowances.
That government also
scrapped teacher trainee allowances, asking all of them to register with the Students Loan Trust.

He told the teeming partisan crowd at the Bawjuasi electoral area that a Nana Akufo - Addo government will also restore the
teacher and nursing
trainee allowances that have been
scrapped by the NDC government.
