Who came up with the
idea of flipping the
script by having the after
school fight be between two teachers instead
of two students?
The
idea of sending cops undercover at a high
school is even more ridiculous now than it was when the TV series aired back in the late 80s, but the fact that the
script was penned by Michael Bacall (who co-wrote the awesome «Scott Pilgrim vs. the World») gives me hope that it'll be better than expected.
The
script, such as it is, is credited to Scot Armstrong (The Heartbreak Kid,
School for Scoundrels), who has somehow managed to consistently make high profile comedies, and do it without exhibiting much
of a penchant for humor, interesting
ideas, or overall talent.
There are a few laughs, but in the absence
of a sustained comic tone and consistently good
ideas, the
script relies on endless bathroom humor and such throwaway visual
ideas as a baby stored in a high
school locker.
The
scripts are accompanied by photos and give youngsters an
idea of the kinds
of exhibits they will encounter, as well as some
of the routines associated with a
school visit.
