The research team now plans to apply their method to the study of deep -
sea temperatures elsewhere to investigate how orbital changes affected the climate in different parts of the world.

The results suggest that the impact of
sea ice seems critical for the Arctic surface
temperature changes, but the
temperature trend
elsewhere seems rather due mainly to changes in ocean surface
temperatures and atmospheric variability.
«Climate Change,
Sea Level, and Western Drought: Dangerous Anthropogenic Interference Learn why the American West could be in trouble with surface air
temperatures rising faster than
elsewhere in the coterminous United States.

Elsewhere, the background forecast model plays a stronger role, helping values of surface air
temperature to be derived from other types of observation, such as
sea - surface
temperatures and winds.
Yet it is clear from BoM that
sea surface
temperature trends around Australia broadly match the land trends, and
elsewhere you have asserted that evaporation is part of the «browning» problem.
«In the North Atlantic region, where tropical cyclone records are longer and generally of better quality than
elsewhere, power dissipation by tropical cyclones is highly correlated with
sea surface
temperature during hurricane season in the regions where storms typically develop»
Differences in estimates of
sea - surface
temperature elsewhere have been a further factor.
Elsewhere on this site there is a graph of overall ocean heat content which is building indicating that while the sst is decreasing slightly the overall ocean is warming, It is likely that this overall ocean warming which has nothing to do with changes to the atmospheric
temperature because it is the
sea surface and not the deep ocean that is in contact with the atmosphere is what is resulting in the overall rise in atmospheric CO2 concentration which is currenly increasing at 2ppmv / year.
b Trends surface
temperature from the GOGA CAM3 simulations (background colorscale; air
temperature over
sea ice and SST
elsewhere) along with the Z850 trend produced by the model simulations (black contours; negative dashed and positive solid; interval of 3 m / decade) and the simulated convective precipitation trends (positive green contours, negative red contours, contoured at − 0.7, − 0.3, − 0.1, 0.1, 0.3, and 0.7 mm / day / decade, shown only for 45 ° S — 45 ° N. (c) As in (b) but for the TOGA CAM3 simulations.
