A wax is used to seal the very same way you would
seal over chalk paint.

sealing shellac that will hopefully kill this nefarious odor once and for all... otherwise I will have to trip these darling stools and start all
over... I will not recommend my Howard t Home
chalk paint to anyone for this very reason.
When purchasing ASCP today I was discouraged from
sealing my piece with General Finishes High Performace Polyurethane Top Coat as they stated the top coat would cause the
chalk paint to lift from the wood
over time.

To finish it all off, I went
over with clear varnish (as I was using some
chalk paint I wanted to bring out the colour a little bit more), this also ensured the piece was
sealed nicely!
Just remember that if you create a faux whitewash with
chalk paint, you will still need to
seal the piece with wax or poly
over the
chalk paint.
You said in the post to only use the glaze
over a
sealed chalk paint.
if
painting over an old wood floor, you may want to consider doing a test spot
painting and
sealing the floor in an inconspicuous area to confirm that the «strong penetrating Lacquer» does not pull up wood tannins or yellow hues up through your
paint — especially is using a «white»
Chalk Paint ®.
