As far as
second acts go, public life in post-imperial Britain offers two distinct options.

second act is on that level — where a good farce would have had these smart (except for Ryan) people make smart moves that somehow

We are introduced to the monster so soon and as soon as we do The Hallow departs the slow rising tension of folk horror and

The
second act is when things really
go off the rails, starting with the dizzying abundance of exposition and progressing to what feels like over an hour of action climax, much of it loud and nonsensical.
The first half of the movie is not that great, filled with way too much bad
acting, including that of the lead actors, but once things get
going in the end of the
second and into the third
acts, the film turns into a pretty decent revenge flick.
Little
goes according to plan, people get hurt, bad guys don't
act predictably and all the rehearsals in the world can't ensure the split -
second precision the movies convince us that units like Seal Team Six provide with the effortlessness of Superheroes.
The material sounds light and kid - friendly, but it all
goes to hell in a hand basket in its
second act.
Nonetheless, the
second act works splendidly and you get a real sense of uncertainty about if the trio is
going to get caught for their robbery.
There are a few cool action beats, and one particularly amazing death scene, but at times, it doesn't even feel like a Riddick movie, with the title character
gone missing for most of the
second act.
It could be argued that there is one or two pacing issues, especially in the
second act were Zach and Beth seem to
go over the same routine again and again.
They say you need a clear three -
act structure and heavy arcs for every character, and the audience needs to know what's
going on in the first 30
seconds.

By the end of the
second act you'll think the characters have
gone off the deep end and failed in their attempt to rob the NASCAR race, but all is not what it seems.
Essentially, this
acts as a «do - over» button, allowing you to rewind a few
seconds of a race to correct a fatal mistake like a crash or accidentally
going out of bounds.
To get back on track to film the
second season, Fonda said she
went to therapy and hired an
acting coach.
There's a jarring switch in tone from the fun, warm feel - good hangout movie that kicks off the film that gets displaced for a typical Bros

act feels chaotic and inspired — with the sense that it could really

second and third
acts are much slower and more contemplative, thus deepening the story.
There is an over-reliance on jump scares but director André Øvredal keeps the tension
going throughout (barring one major misstep in a scene that bridges the
second and third
acts... you'll know it when you see it).
Going in, it is already clear that it will have no resolution, and likely no momentum, and will be positioned as the first
act and perhaps half of the
second act of a larger story.
I can't
go into too much detail without spoiling it but I will say that something is revealed in the
second act and it plays out into the third
act.
Seth MacFarlane's
second feature - length film was always
going to be a tough
act to sell.
