Brow Ptosis - Certain canine breeds have a very heavy brow which induces
secondary entropion of the upper eyelid.
Secondary entropion may be caused by corneal ulcers or other source of severe pain, or loss of eyelid support (e.g. sunken eye, muscle atrophy, etc) and can occur in any breed.

secondary to ocular pain, and cicatricial
entropion, a result of eyelid scarring.
Because it's important to determine if there is a corneal ulcer
secondary to the
entropion, a fluorescein dye may also be used.
Ulcers can also occur
secondary to «rolling in» of the eyelids (
entropion) causing the lashes to rub on the surface of the eye, extra eyelashes (ectopic cilia), or inadequate tear production (dry eye syndrome).
It is impossible in the young puppy to determine if the
entropion is primary or
secondary.
When present and inducing
entropion and
secondary corneal abnormalities, a brow lift procedure is indicated.
