SEATTLE, WASHINGTON — In 2007, Dutch
secondary school biology teacher Hanny van Arkel spotted something mysterious in the night sky.
Every spring and fall, the Academy hosts a daylong symposium for an audience of
secondary school teachers called the BioForum, where international experts gather to discuss topics such as genetic engineering, conservation
biology, or energy prospects in a changing world.
