Though England is voucher - averse, its charter - like sector is burgeoning, with more than half of all

She said: «Up to now, governors at my
secondary school do not foresee enough benefits for pupils from
conversion for it to risk a potentially disastrous distraction from the
school's core purpose of providing the best education it can.
With so many
secondary schools already converted, and with the many primary
schools unsuitable for
conversion, it's «unclear» how feasible further academisation of large numbers will be.
Education Secretary Michael Gove said: «A third of
secondary schools are now either an academy or have started on the road to
conversion.
The government is also searching for a sponsor to take over the only
secondary school on the Isles of Scilly, which is facing academy
conversion after being put in special measures.
